v Football First Academy

Mowbray Rangers played Football First Academy from Leicester, in a quick paced match. Rangers started brightly and scored from an excellent free kick after Faulkner was fouled. He dusted himself down and placed the ball down to strike a fantastic drilled shot over the wall in to the top of the net. Rangers then became disjointed with passes going astray and not finding there normal high tempo. A free kick was given away on the edge of the box and was fired in as the goalkeeper could not keep his hands on the ball. Rangers seem deflated by this and later gave away a simple tap in. Worby and Aldridge where making chances but in the final third it was starting to feel it would not be Rangers day as 3 shots went just wide, hit the post and crossbar. in the second half Rangers became bright and worked a equaliser after a cross was well worked and Hurst-Butler turned it in. Rangers then sparked into life and came close as Worby crossed beating the keeper, Hurst Butler slid in and could not make contact and Swinscoe came sliding in on the right far post but could just not get any contact. The ball then trickled out. As Rangers pushed, a simple pass went astray and was picked up by Football First Academy and Rangers keeper was quick to deal with as he gathered the ball, however he was deemed to have taken the striker as well as the ball and a penalty was given with 5 mins left on the clock. Puchanz expertly saved with a fantastic save, unfortunately as the Rangers players stood amazed at the save, Football First Academy followed up and slotted home. With only a short time to salvage something from a game, which seemed prior to the penalty to be moving towards a draw. Rangers gambled and were hit on the break as they threw players forward. It was a bitter disappointment to go down 4-2 loss which for large parts they where the dominant team with more chances. Football First Academy played well and converted 4 of there 5 chances. Rangers had failed to equalise this conversion of chances. They look forward to a cup game next weekend and hope for better luck
