Jaguars Pounce at Walkers Stadium.

On a red hot sunday morning there was some apprehension amongst the players and parents after finding out the Mowbray Rangers Jaguars had been put in Group A of the Matt Elliott Under 8s Midlands Football Tournament. Alongside with teams like Barrow Town and Loughbourough Dynamo they would have to be at their best to compete on the hallo turf at Leicester Citys Walkers Stadium.
However, as soon as the games started the jags moved into gear, they attacked Humberstone Rangers from the off and an Ollie Murch thunderbolt was enough for victory.
The jags never looked back, winning another 2 games and drawing with Barrow Town and
conceding only one goal in all 4 matches thanks to outstanding goalkeeping from Alex Wainman, and scoring a total of ten goals 5 of which came from an on-fire Danny Bluett. The rest of the goals coming from Ollie Murch,Mikey Orridge and Kyle Oakes.
Nothing got past Benji Shilham and Jack Moulds in defence, Kyle Oakes was again outstanding at the back and going forward!.
Mikey Orridge dominated central midfield, none of the other teams could contain him. Jacob Pope worked tirelessly on the left, winning the ball and flying down the wing.
Ollie and Danny did not let up and peppered opponents goals with Powerfull shots all through the matches, almost breaking the woodwork on several occasions and both scoring outstanding free kicks.
Finally, the team stepped up to collect their certificates and medals from Matt Elliott.
A great day for all, with the jags bringing there victory back to Melton!
Team, Alex Wainman,Jack Moulds,Kyle Oakes,Danny Bluett,Mikey Orridge,Jacob Pope,Ollie Murch,Benji Shilham.

Would moving kids' football to a summer game help improve the development of young footballers?
Yes - better pitches mean a better chance to develop technique/skills
No - wouldn't make any real difference to development
Maybe - but I'd be worried about more injuries on firm pitches
